Methamphetamine Assessing
Methamphetamine (‘Ice’) use is on the rise across Australia, which coincides with hundreds of thousands of homes, and public areas being contaminated.
The using/smoking of methamphetamine along with manufacturing laboratories is leaving an unwanted legacy as the toxic residue seeps into and remains on surfaces unless professionally decontaminated i.e. plasterboard, paint.
These toxic residues can affect you and your family’s health. The residues can be inhaled, and you can also be directly affected from touching of contaminated surfaces.

Signs of Meth use/cooking
Production of meth causes metal surfaces, such as light fittings and door handles to rust. Often you may find the light bulbs have been removed and smoke alarms disabled, as turning on a light can cause a spark to ignite the flammable gases produced. The walls may be stained slightly red or brown, other areas of the house may have white powdery residue present – even a small amount can be quite dangerous and odours of chemicals used in the cooking of methamphetamine.
